Dates of upcoming elections and referendums.

Following changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, postal voters are now required to reapply for their postal vote every three years. Postal voters who applied for a postal vote before 31 October 2023 are required to renew their postal vote application no later than 31 January 2026.

How to register, who can register and other information about the electoral register.

Every year, we conduct a canvass of the residential households in the South Kesteven area to make sure that the data we hold in the Electoral Register is correct and up to date. Between July and October 2025 we will be contacting households to request updated details of residents eligible to register to vote.

If you are not able to vote at your polling station at the time of an election or referendum, you can choose to vote by post or proxy. You must already be registered to vote to apply for a postal or proxy vote.

All voters are now required to take photo ID to vote at a polling station at elections.

A community governance review can consider the creation of new parishes or abolishing, altering or grouping of parishes under a common parish council. A review can also consider the electoral arrangements of parishes such as the number of members elected; the need for parish or town wards; the names of wards; the number of members per ward and the naming of the parish.

The scheduled election of all councillors for Lincolnshire County Council and the first election of the Mayor of the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority were held on 1 May 2025.

EU citizens are no longer automatically entitled to register to vote and stand for election.
