The national `Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England` is compiled and maintained by Historic England. Entries are graded in the same way as listed buildings:
-
Grade I are of international importance
-
Grade II* are of exceptional historic interest
-
Grade II are of high historic interest
Unlike listed buildings, there is no provision for statutory protection. However planning applications in or near to registered parks and gardens do have to take that status into account. All development proposals relating to Grade I and II* sites must be referred to Historic England.
Our nine registered sites are:
-
Belton House (I)
-
Harlaxton Manor (II*)
-
Stoke Rochford Hall ( II*)
-
Belvoir Castle (II) (Only part within South Kesteven)
-
Caythorpe Court (II)
-
Eaton Park (II)
-
Marston Hall (II)
-
Burghley House (I) (Only part within South Kesteven)
South Kesteven and the National Trust commissioned Belton House a Park Setting Study to inform the Local Development Framework (LDF) Policy relating to the setting of Belton House and Park.
