Leisure centres in Bourne, Grantham and Stamford, owned by South Kesteven District Council, have been awarded The Active Standard, a nationally recognised quality mark for the physical activity sector.
The certification has been awarded to Council-owned LeisureSK which oversees Bourne Leisure Centre, Grantham Meres Leisure Centre and Stamford Leisure Pool.
The Active Standard recognises an operator’s commitment to delivering safe, inclusive, and high-quality facilities for residents and visitors.
Developed by ukactive, it is independently assessed and evaluates organisations against four key areas: health and safety compliance, safeguarding facilities, data protection, and professional standards.
Cllr Paul Stokes, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, praised the achievement: “This is fantastic news for our leisure centres and the communities they serve.
“Achieving the Active Standard demonstrates our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, inclusion, and professionalism. I am incredibly proud of the work being done to ensure our residents have access to top-quality leisure facilities.”
All three Council-owned Leisure Centres in South Kesteven have 25-metre fitness pools, as well as a mixture of bubbles, fountains and water jet features for families visiting the centres.
Fully-equipped gyms include a wide selection of cardio and resistance training machines as well as offering busy programmes of instructor-led and group exercise classes.
In Grantham, three activity sports halls, an outdoor running track and a state of the art 3G football pitch allow for a mixture of indoor and outdoor sports.
Debbie Roberts, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LeisureSK, said:" This is a fantastic achievement with the certification highlighting the exceptional facilities on offer in Bourne, Stamford and Grantham.
“My thanks goes to our dedicated team of staff who take pride in maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality to create an environment where everyone can enjoy staying active and pursuing their fitness goals.”
