South Kesteven District Council will be joining millions around the world in support of Earth Hour 2025 by switching off the lights on several council owned buildings in Grantham for an hour on Saturday 22nd March at 8.30pm.
Lights will be turned off on St Peter’s Hill Green and South Kesteven House.
This global event serves as a powerful reminder of the need to protect our planet and act against climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss.
Organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), since its launch in Sydney, Australia in 2007, Earth Hour has grown to involve more than 190 countries.
This year residents and businesses across South Kesteven are encouraged to take part by switching off their lights for an hour or more.
SKDC’s Sustainability and Climate Change Officer Serena Brown said, “Earth Hour is a simple but powerful way to show support for the planet.
“It's also an opportunity to step away from screens, reconnect with nature and spend quality time with family.
“Whether it’s stargazing, enjoying a candlelit evening, or learning more about climate action, every small step makes a difference.
“When we restore nature, it restores us.”
