Council tenants in South Kesteven are about to welcome a new company into their homes for gas safety checks, heating repairs and maintenance.
Lincoln-based Aaron Services has signed an initial three-year agreement to provide these services as part of one of the biggest contracts operated by SKDC at £3,000,000 per year.
Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, Cllr Phil Dilks, said: “South Kesteven District Council has a clear commitment in its Corporate Plan to ensure that ‘all residents can access housing which is safe, good quality, sustainable and suitable for their needs and future generations’.
“Safety is paramount and as a social landlord, the Council has statutory and regulatory obligations to maintain and repair around 5,900 properties.
“The improvement and maintenance of heating systems is a key aim of this contract and considerable work had been carried out to ensure that under the new contract there would be marked improvements to the Council’s housing tenants.
“Aaron Services is now contracted to provide asset services and the repair, maintenance and installation of domestic heating, as well as mechanical services which include low carbon installations to our housing stock.”
One of their initial tasks will be to gather new data and expand their tenant information to help provide the best possible service.
Cllr Dilks added: “Tenants will start to see a new name on correspondence regarding their gas and heating dealings with the Council. Please welcome these new staff in as they work to make your homes run safely and efficiently.
“Any issues should be reported in the usual way; nothing has changed in that respect.”
Aaron Services already enjoys good reviews from work it does with the City of Lincoln, Melton Borough, and North Kesteven District councils.
Their remit includes gas services and repairs, general maintenance, installation of heating, annual gas servicing and safety inspections.
