Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre is thrilled to announce the launch of its highly anticipated new season Autumn Brochure - accompanied by a call to book early to avoid disappointment.
First-class live entertainment means that shows are now selling quickly as everyone returns to enjoy live entertainment as a shared experience, with music, drama, comedy, the spoken word and dance, all featuring this autumn.
Big names like A Flock of Seagulls, Jonathan Agnew, Andy Irvine and Simon Evans are booked in, along with the Funhouse Comedy Club line-up that includes Paul Sinha, Josh Pugh and Andrew Bird.
Polka Dot Pantomimes are back for another year with Aladdin, with an extended run of five weeks.
Also in the run-up to Christmas, there are fantastic, festive performances to get people into the Christmas spirit from Neil Sands bringing Christmas Memories, plus the Nick Ross Orchestra performing some special Christmas big band arrangements.
Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Paul Stokes, said: "We have a superb line up of musical performances this season. Top of the list is A Flock of Seagulls, with tribute shows From Gold To Rio, Counterfeit Seventies, Made in the 80s and Revisiting Amy (Whitehouse) sure to win standing ovations.
"For children, we are pleased to announce Splash Test Dummies with their splish-splashing circus set, as well as Rhubarb Theatre with Finding Chester - a comedy puppetry, mask, dance and song production.
"Remember that we now have five weeks of pantomime fun available, so make sure you book your tickets for Aladdin quickly as they always sell out."
Popular Dame John Highton is back as Widow Twankey, joined by award-winning entertainer Noah Kelly from Crackerjack and 8 Out Of 10 Cats as the Genie of the Lamp. Also starring are Serena Walsh as Princess Jasmine and Michael McCredie as Wishee Washee. As always, the family favourite offers side-splitting jokes, spectacular scenery and costumes, with plenty of magical effects and audience participation.
Other highlights include Srishti Pathways, a triple bill of Bharatanatyam dance performed by a new generation of British-South Asian dancers who will showcase this Indian classical dance style from southern India. This event offers a free workshop for schools/colleges. Please get in touch if you are interested.
What's Your Poison is a fascinating new play about real-life 19th century doctor William Palmer, seen from both the atmospheric Victorian perspective - the doctor, his family and friends, and his trial - and from a contemporary 21st century perspective - by a young couple fascinated by this true-crime case ... which delivers a delicious final twist!
Tickets for all productions are available online 24/7 via www.guildhallartscentre.com, where the new season brochure can be downloaded from. The box office is open to visitors 10am-2pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - and 45 minutes prior to performances.
Printed copies of the What's On guide, for both Grantham and Stamford Arts Centres, are available at both venues.
