A by-election has been called to fill a vacancy at South Kesteven District Council, with voting to take place on Thursday 9th November.
This has come about following the death of Cllr Ray Wootten and the Lincolnshire County Council seat he held will be contested on the same day.
Candidates can be nominated until 4pm on Friday 13th October, and nomination papers must be signed by a proposer and seconder who need to be local government electors for the relevant ward or division.
Information on how to become a councillor can be found via the SKDC website at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/becomecouncillor
Nomination papers and information packs are also available from the SKDC website at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/byelections or from the elections team: 01476 406080, email: elections@southkesteven.gov.uk
The seats are Grantham St Wulfram's Ward (SKDC) and for the County Council division of Grantham North.
SKDC Chief Executive and Returning Officer Karen Bradford said: "To be certain of being able to vote - and have a say in these by-elections and any future elections and referendums, as well as local and parliamentary votes - you need to be registered.
"You can contact our electoral services team, to find out if you're already registered to vote, but you will also need to get in touch to update your details if you have moved house or changed your name."
There are also deadlines for those who wish to vote. To take part, residents need to be registered to vote by the end of Tuesday 24th October. Visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and register, particularly those who have recently moved or are turning 18. The website asks for your date of birth and National Insurance number in addition to the usual details of name, address, previous address and nationality.
All voters at a polling station now need to show an accepted form of photographic identification (photo ID) in order to be able to vote. Anyone without an accepted form of ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on Wednesday 1 November to use at the polling station: http://www.southkesteven.gov.uk/voterID
